Here are the answers to many of our most Frequently Asked Questions.

What type of motorcycle license is required?

Here are some examples of alternative licenses that we accept:

What will the weather be like?

For the southern Rockies ride you can expect the weather to be warm and mild, however the Rockies can get wet and cold at any time of the year. Tours are scheduled for the best time of year but it can rain, and sometimes even snow, at any time of the year. For the Canyon Country tour, you can expect the weather to range from 105 F/40 C to 80 F/ 25 C. It normally does not rain more than occasional showers in Utah during the tour.

What types of clothes should I bring?

A light pair of pants, shorts, pullover, light short sleeve shirts. Some people actually bring few clothes and buy a shirt in each new town. Light hiking shoes are also recommended. Obviously we have limited storage capacity on the bikes so it is essential to pack light.

What if I want to deviate from the official tour route?

We allow riders to “do their own thing.” However this is limited to staying on the paved roads. We do not allow off-tarmac exploration without a 106 West guide.

Will I have wireless service?

All of the hotels have wireless service.

Will I have cell phone service?

Cell phone service is available in the small towns we stay in. However it is NOT available in the remote backcountry we will spend most of our time riding. This is especially true in Utah.

Do I need water bottles?

No. We furnish 3 liter water bottles for your trip. This avoids the packing space required for water bottles.

Do you rent motorcycles?
